Coach karissa kammen

Karissa was born and raised in Northern California where she played high school and club volleyball. She has mostly played as an outside hitter, however she occasionally played as a middle blocker. After high school she was the assistant coach for her high school before she enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Medic. She continued to play volleyball during her time in service in El Paso, Texas before rediscovering her passion for coaching. She then coached for a club team in El Paso before finishing her service in the military and moving to Ohio with her husband Dakota. Besides coaching, she is also a student at Mount St. Joseph University where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Altogether Karissa has a total of 12 years playing and coaching volleyball. Her coaching philosophy revolves around developing mental toughness, the ability to push past failures by remaining positive, having a teachable attitude and a competitive state of mind to be able to play the game at competitive level. This helps ensure players are developing and maintaining fundamentals while adding on new skills and nourishing players love for the game.
