Coach Steve Skavlem

Steve has been involved with volleyball since his playing days for Williams college.  After college he continued to play indoor and sand recreationally whenever possible wherever his work life took him.  Back in Cincinnati, his love for the game and his daughters’ interest in it led him to coaching both competitive rec volleyball and CYO for 7th and 8thgrade.  His belief in strong fundamentals and keeping the game as simple as possible helps drive player development and in playing smart volleyball.  Players have different natural instincts and abilities and he enjoys working with what comes naturally and then making improvements from there.  Seeing each player become the best that they can be while finding good team chemistry is the key to success.  He had that same approach in coaching youth club soccer for two years. Also he really enjoyed seeing a player who had never played volleyball before go from his rec team on to play for Cincy Crush.
